Friendsgiving & The Gilmore Girls Revival

Every year we alternate the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays between our two families. This was the year that we stayed in Alabama for Thanksgiving, and with my mother going on a cruise, we decided to have a friends-giving. We invited over our friend, Lark, and we each made a couple of dishes. Our dinner consisted our Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Stuffing, Crescent Rolls, Garlic Herb Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli and Cheese Casserole, Green Beans, Mac n' cheese, and we each had a personal sized cheesecake. It was so delicious!

I also whipped up some apple cider mimosas, which were simple and amazing.

We spent the rest of the evening playing Mario Party, which I got surprisingly better at the more mimosas I drank, and then Adam even had me shooting some zombies on Call of Duty.

The early morning hours the day after Thanksgiving, saw the release of the Gilmore Girls revival. So that evening, Adam surprised me by bringing home a burger cake to eat during the premiere. Just like the ones the girls eat at Luke's diner.

After Thanksgiving dinner, and once Lark had left for the evening, I got a few hours of sleep on the couch, before my alarm went off at 2 a.m. to watch the Gilmore Girls. Adam wanted to watch it with me too, since he knew how important this revival was for me.

We were able to power through the first two episodes before catching a few more hours of sleep Friday morning, and we finished the whole series by 2 p.m. that afternoon.

I finished the whole show before any of my friends on facebook, I was proud.

Wow, oh, wow. I have watched all the episodes twice now. And I'm still processing how I felt about it all. Some parts I loved, some parts I didn't, but all in all, I'm just glad we got to spend a few more hours in Stars Hollow.

So worth it!

  1. Yes, Gilmore Girls Revival was awesome, but I'm with you. I am still processing it. I know I could have done without the musical act, and I really didn't like the person they turned Rory into. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have been friends. But I feel like their story isn't finished, and I want to see more. I love that Adam brought you home a themed cake. What a guy! Match just kept popping in to make fun of the show and leave. Turkey!
Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I am hoping next year's is drama free (the friend part was awesome!) I would love your recipe for apple cider mimosas. They sound incredible!
