Introducing Link

Yesterday Adam and I took a quick trip to the local Animal Shelter (well, it would have been a quick trip if the GPS hadn't lead us in the totally wrong direction). And then when we actually made it to the shelter, Adam was all like, "Oh, yeah I've been here before." He had been there before, less than a year ago, and yet he still didn't know where we were headed. What?

We had been planning on getting a dog for quite a while, I had started pushing to get one a few months ago, but Adam wasn't ready. He agreed we would go after Disney. So this weekend was the first pay check after Disney, so it was time.

There were a ton of dogs at the shelter, but some reason this 4 month old beagle spoke to us. He was sweet, he was loving, and no other dog held our attention as well. We took him to pet depo, and we spent way too much money on supplies, and then we took him home.

They called him Barney at the shelter. But he is no big, purple dinosaur. We decided to name him Link. As in the hero of one of our favorite video games, Zelda. It may be a little unusual, but we love it. So he may not be the hero of Hyrule, but he is the hero of Athens, Alabama (yeah, you will only get that reference if you play Zelda)

So now we are on to house training, which is always a blast. But I think he is catching on quick. We had an easy night last night without any whining. He loves to snuggle, and he snores. He doesn't like loud noises, and he is startled when Adam sneezes. Tomorrow is his first vet appointment. 

I can't wait to see what life as a family of 3 has in store for us.  But right now, it is all puppy love over here.
