Five Things

Just Five Little Things Happening in Life Lately:

Loving family walks with Link right now. Although Link is the BEST PUPPY ever, teaching him to walk has not been the easiest. I've never had a dog just not know how to walk? There was the first few walks of dragging him from behind, now he knows how to lead, but wants to fight us when we get close to home. It doesn't help that our harness isn't working right, so if he fights us, he can wiggle easily out of the harness. We are fixing that this weekend.

Finally, I got all my scrapbook pages from Disneyworld printed, and put in the special book Adam bought me at Christmas. I love it oh so much. I want to show it to everyone, and I look at it all the time. This trip was so special, and now I will never forget any part of it.

I kind of love this selfie. I took this on the one day I worked during the two weeks of being sick. I worked that one day because I had a steroid shot a few days prior, which tricked me into thinking I felt better. Of course, I woke up the next day and was clearly not better! But that one day of feeling OK was a golden moment in a crap filled two weeks.

Also during the week I was sick? I heard there was a  Birthday Cake Frappuccino at Starbucks, and I was so bored at home, that I went out one night just to try a bit of it. Is it weird to buy something just to have a few sips? I don't think so. I have always been a foodie at heart. Plus it was SO WORTH IT. So good.

Sometimes your niece is having a wedding shower in Houston, Texas, and you decide two weeks before the shower that you just have to come! So you buy a last minute ticket, and then plan for one whirl wind weekend. Anything for my girl.

Hilarious. British people are asked to label a map of the United States. But I think Americans do a worse job when asked to label a map of Europe!

This parody of Lorde's Royals about being in your 30's is classic. "And Everybody's got kids, a mortgage, real responsibility, neck pain, diets, hot chicks born after me, it's so unfair, getting carded is getting rare."

A real life Mowgli! This girl had the life! Who wouldn't want to have grown up with playmates like elephants and tigers.

Pictures of modern tourists in Paris have been combined with images from the same locations during WWII. Haunting.

An Online Link Love Book Vol. V

I think Cake Balls are delicious, but I always thought they looked really complicated to make. But this video breaks it down and makes it look super easy.

I wish I had invested in one of these uber cute iPhone cases before I dropped my phone and shattered the glass into pieces *sad face.*

I really love reading travel guides, but I never thought about what tourist guides would say about traveling to America. (Some gems: Be Punctual! Don't Talk Politics! Inner Cities are Unsafe!).

I am so psyched for the summer Olympics, and I have been watching the trials, but everyone knows I could never make it in the Olympics. But I could excel in the Olympics if these sports for athletically challenged people actually existed.

A few years ago I was taking a nap with my dog Sarah, and all of a sudden she made a sound like she was choking. So I hopped out of bed and started giving her the Heimlich maneuver, or at least what was my closest approximation. Although it turns out she wasn't choking, and she just thought I was nuts. But when I came across this information on dog CPR, I thought it was good knowledge to pass along anyway.

Coloring is no longer just for children and these Adult Coloring Book pages look like an amazing way to relax.

I don't have children, and I don't really have a reason to throw these kind of parties, but I thought these party themes based on Children's books were smashing.

When I settle into our new place in Alabama, I really want to make this magnetic make-up board. So cute.

An Online Link Love Book Vol. III

I really love looking at vintage photographs. Lately, I've been fascinated with these old photos of New York City and Brooklyn. Oh, how things change. But I love how you can still see how bustling of a city it really was, even back then.

I successfully ordered an Oreo Frappuccino off this Secret Starbucks menu last week. Not only was it delicious, it made me feel like I was such a winner that day.

This zillow (real estate listing) on The White House is super interesting. Like who knew the White House's last big remodel was in the 1950's? Or that it has a "mud room?"

A poignant personal narrative from someone whose marriage is ending at the age of 23.

I would love to stay in the Hotel Des Arts in San Francisco. It is a hotel where all the rooms are painted by a different artist. I would want to stay in the room of one of my favorite artists, Casey O'Connell.

I think grilled cheeses are just about the most perfect comfort food ever.  Here are 40 ways to jazz up the traditional sandwich.

Remember a few weeks ago when I complained about the ending of the movie Titanic? Well, I'm not the only one who feels like I feel. These two ladies opted to answer the "whether or not Jack could have gotten on the door with Rose" question by reenacting the disputed ending in a swimming pool, in period dress. Classic.

Hilarious Mcsweeny's article. The State Department's Official Travel Advisory for Your Mother's House

A funny article entitled Five Ways Saved By The Bell Ruined My Life. But they forgot one important one! Saved by the Bell gave me the impression that high school was nothing more than spending all day hanging out in the hall. Those kids were like hardly ever actually in class. Such a let down once I entered the 9th grade.

I think these little custom post-it note frames would make the perfect gift for a friend.
